Visa to Vietnam

 Most of visitors to Vietnam need a visa to enter the country. Visas are exempted for the citizens of the countries which have signed a bilateral or unilateral visa exemption agreement with Vietnam.

Citizens from following countries are exempted entry visa to Vietnam, for Bilateral Visa Exemption Agreement. Duration of stay is from 15 - 90 days depending on different agreements.

LANGUAGE IN VIETNAM

 Vietnam has 54 minorities and about 90 languages but Vietnamese is official one in the whole country. After we got independence in September, 1945, Vietnam no longer use French and Chinese Mandarin officially.

Today, English is the first foreign language taught in school and university. Beside that we also introduce French, Chinese, Korea, Spanish, Portuguese, German, Japanese, Russian, Italian, and others in our education system.

Reasonable time for travel to Vietnam

Our country, Vietnam, consists of 3 main regions. They are North, Central, and South. You may ask when you should take the best time to travel to Vietnam. The following information is an advice for you.

In the North, the climate is divided into 4 seasons including spring, summer, autumn, and winter. It is dried and cool season during Oct - April so that 70% foreign tourist love to come to Vietnam this time. In addition, there are more festival during the time, especially in the spring falling by early Feb till April. The weather is little cold during December - February. Summer in the North is hot and humid during May - August.

In the South Vietnam, from Danang Southward, it is warm all year round so that you can come and feel nice at any time with your activities on wonderful beaches. Some provinces in the Southern Highland are cool all year round like Dalat, Ban Me Thuot, Pleiku...where tourism concerns with nature and cultural activities.

The longest holiday in Vietnam is Lunar New Year arrival at Feb. People takes 7 -10 days for the holiday or cozy time with family and relatives.

Fried Minced pork with Com

Fried minced pork with Com or Cha Com is one of popular food in Hanoi. Cha Com is made from minced pork and green sticky rice flakes. Eating Cha Com is accompanied with rice noodle, fried tofu, vermicelli, bread, and rice.



Ingredients for Cha Com includes pork chops, pork fat, dried Com, fish sauce, cooking oil, fresh banana leaf, pepper.

Pork chops is processed into paste, mixed with dried Com (green rice flakes), mold the paste into square or round shape then steam till well-done. Fry the cooked paste with vegetable oil till the paste turns into light yellow.



When eating Cha Com you should prepare Nuoc Cham or sauce. The sauce is prepared from fish sauce, water, galic, vinegar, lemon drops, chili, pepper, sugar.

You can make Cha Com at home, buy from local food market, or enjoy it at a street stall in city. Cheap but authentic taste of Hanoi cuisine.

HO CHI MINH PRESIDENT HOUSE

 It is a house on stilts situated inside  Presidential complex with green garden and trees. The house was built in 1958 according to style of Tay -Thai ethnic house in mountainous areas in the North Vietnam.

The house on stilts for President Ho Chi Minh is recolonized as a Special National Site. It looks humble in the heart of Hanoi capital. The place is must -see on tour itinerary when you visit Hanoi. Next to Ho Chi Minh house are the house No 67, the house where he receive foreign guests, Presidential palace.


The stilt house is overlooking to a fish pond. Whenever the president feed them he just clap hand for a sign, then hundreds of fish coming. The house consist of 2 floor. The ground floor is meeting place with members in politburo. On the second floor there are 2 small rooms, one is bedroom and the other is his working place. 

The President house is simple but he is the great man of Vietnam. People call him with respected name Uncle Ho or Bac Ho in Vietnamese.

Streets of Hanoi welcome arrival of Hoa Ban blossoms


VOV.VN - During late February each year the streets of Hanoi are filled with Hoa Ban, known by their scientific name of Bauhinia variegate, in bloom, serving to fill the streets with delicate pink flowers which are reminiscent of orchids.


Local people can easily spot the flowers blossoming on trees on Bac Son, Hoang Dieu, Yen Phu, and Hoang Dao Thuy streets, in addition to on the banks of Ho Guom, also known as Sword Lake.

 Where is Bat Trang ceramic village? Bat Trang village is situated by Red river edge, Gia Lam district in outskirt of Hanoi city, 15 km from center. The village has been popular since Le dynasty, 15th century for sophisticated ceramic products including export categories. Come to visit Bat trang village you not only watch the artisans making pottery products but you can join and try.

How to get to Bat trang from Hanoi center? You can catch a car taxi, public bus number 47, grab bike, or your owned rental car with driver arranged by a travel agent. It takes around 20 - 30 mins. 

The activities at Bat trang ceramic village. You can take a short walk around the ancient village, visit Communal house, traditional houses aged 200 years, join with artisans to make your owned design ceramic product, visit ancient oven used wood and rice husk baking pottery long time ago, visit the largest ceramic market in Hanoi.

In particular, artisans use white clay, potter wheel, mould, and hand to form product. Before that they choose fine clay then filter the material till they get the best quality. When the raw products get dried artisans start to decorate them with beautiful patterns, then glaze before baking at temperature of around 1200 Degree C.

Nowadays they use electric and gas to bake ceramics to minimize pollution. You can try some street food at Bat Trang ceramic market or book Vietnamese set menu lunch with a host from traditional house. 

Tour to visit Bat trang can be done by Vespa bike, bicycle for half day. It is quite fun and worthy to see when you stay in Hanoi
