VIETNAM MUSEUM OF ETHNOLOGY IN HANOI

Vietnam Museum of Ethnology is the largest museum in Hanoi city, is located on an area of over 43,000 sqm, 8 km from old center. All photos, objects, and models displayed there relate to culture of 54 minorities in Vietnam. 


In 2013 the museum open one more building that focus on South East Asia and culture. 

The proposal for the museum officially approved in Dec 1987, and opened in Nov 1997. The exhibition building was designed by architect Ha Duc Linh, a member of Tay ethnic group. 


The museum consists of indoor and outdoor parts. The indoor consists of over 15,000 artefacts and photos. The items include clothes, jewelry, and info about all aspect of daily life, culture, and history of 54 minorities. The outdoor is model of houses for Viet, Muong, Cham, Ede, H'mong, Tay ....ethnic groups.
